POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant-GS will be responsible to develop and maintain excellent partnerships with vendors and internal CFT partners while placing merchandise reorders, negotiating faster deliveries and potential discounts on volume orders for "winners" and cancellations and/or markdowns on non-sellers; effectively communicate pertinent information to internal partners; maintain inventory position minimize overstock, under stock and backorders. This person must be organized, thrive in fast-paced environment, and be disciplined to work in a flexible culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build relationships with domestic and international vendors. Communicate effectively with vendors on an ongoing basis assuring they understand our short and long-term requirements.
  • Place initial and reorders promptly; initiate purchase orders and obtain confirmed receipt of PO.
  • Contact vendors on a weekly basis to obtain stock status and delivery information to assure on time, accurate deliveries.
  • Partner with Merchants to negotiate volume discounts and work creatively to reduce lead times on hot-selling items.
  • In the event of vendor delays, negotiate to procure needed merchandise without harming the Company's relationship with vendor.
  • Review applicable reports, utilize reports and forecasting system to look for opportunities to drive business.
  • Cancel backup orders on non-sellers and late-arriving non-sellers with vendors in a timely manner.
  • Negotiate RTV's margin assistance on marginal sellers, and discounts on damaged merchandise collaboratively with internal partners.
  • Communicate with the DC on all information needed to receive merchandise on a timely basis.
  • Advise Customer Service of merchandise substitutions in cases where we cannot obtain the items originally ordered.
  • Enter and maintain information on select back orders for the Customer Service Representatives.
  • Maintain delivery information on all purchase orders, enabling the sales center to provide accurate information to the customer and the distribution center to plan workload.
  • Notify Merchants of consistent and/or costly problems experienced with a particular vendor.
  • Consolidate purchase orders to reduce shipping costs with Logistics.
  • Communicate any carrier changes to vendors and ensure Business Requirements are followed.
  • Assist vendors with domestic routing questions & shipments to the Distribution Center.
  • Cross train in a department that has direct impact on your job.
  • Complete other tasks related to the PLC process as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education preferred.
  • Must have an understanding of computers and software.
  • Requires problem-solving and formulation skills, math and calculation, reading, proofreading, reasoning, and analyzing.
  • Proficient in Excel; experience in an office setting/buying office preferred but not required.
