This is an exciting time at Soft Surroundings! We currently have 74 retail stores, and have plans for additional growth. We are looking for an experienced Programmer/Analyst for our IT department at our Creve Coeur Headquarters. Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and test new applications
  • Participate within a team to maintain and enhance existing systems
  • Work with departmental experts to analyze, design and develop business legacy systems
  • Develop infrastructure to enhance the development/deployment processes
  • Design and implement data models for business systems
  • Research any problems that may arise and implement change to prevent it from happening again
  • Analyze software needs of the company
  • Accurately service and maintain the existing software systems
  • Help users understand the operations of the systems
  • Complete small/medium projects with some supervision
  • Understands and applies the Project Life Cycle
  • Tests and de-bugs applications thoroughly.
  • Assists in the documentation of projects
  • Carry after hours support phone according to assigned schedule
  • Answer calls outside of normal business hours
  • Creates documentation of cross training and report information.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot difficult issues and think critically
  • 1+ years of software development experience
  • SQL/MySQL experience
  • Highly motivated and able to work both independently and within a team structure
  • Knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent communication and follow-up skills
  • Well organized and capable of managing multiple projects and their due dates
  • Ability to work well with department employees throughout the software development cycle
  • Effective contributor to the department and company

Preferred Skills:

  • Unix/Linux experience
  • Experience in retail industry
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies
  • Knowledge of design patterns
